Hi, the hardy 5 is designed for jumping. Hope this helps.
Guys can someone tell me what a 2009 UMF Hardy 5 would fit in to, eg all mountain , free ride , Dirt jump?
To do tricks and stunts, it is best to practice like crazy and build up to it gradually. Start with the easier stuff and work up. Also get advice and hints from other riders and you can also get instruction on Youtube vids. Wear helmet, elbow and knee protection, and gloves especially when trying something new or difficult. If you take a fall, never land on your head or neck; use your hands to land on your shoulder and roll. Advise not to try 360 flips; risk of paralysis.
wow, great sound and talent display of MTB tricks flying almost like an eagle!

No, this is more of a cross-country or all mountain bike. That really depends on the upgrades that have been made to it. The original fork on the Attack offers only about 100 mm of travel (just sort of 4 in.), whereas a true-blue downhill or freeride bike is equipped with a 170 – 200 mm travel fork. Also, the rear shock looks suited for lighter duty drops, bumps, and other obstacles. Most good rear shocks on "gravity" bikes can handle 450+ lbs. of force (bigger drops, hitting big bumps at high speeds, etc…) One more thing, while your bike has a solid frame that's great for XC and AM type riding, it probably isn't meant for high speed descents and big drops. Big mountain downhill bikes are beefed up and look like they can take a hit, check one out.
Don't get me wrong, you have a sweet bike that will show you a good time, and it's not like you can't point it downhill. But it is best suited for flat, uphill, or not so dramatically sloped downhill type terrain. So get out there and have fun!
Good movie, though I felt that you were going a bit fast through Nechite!
Jackass did it

Sorry, man…..you probably can't even find a decent (safe) used rig for that money. Used, you should plan on $800 to $1500 for a downhill bike, and new from $1300 to $3000.
There are lots of used hardtail jump bikes or hardtail freeride bikes in that price range, but if you want a normal full suspension gravity rig it's going to cost you money. The parts on these bikes aren't cheap, so the bikes cost more.
I'd suggest you save up a little more money or add something to trade with in addition to cash, and look for a decent used bike. Keep your eye on the classifieds at , , and . Just be sure not to buy an old used up bike…..these bikes usually get abused and only foolish people buy a gravity bike that's had more than 3 or 4 seasons of use on it. It depends on how it was ridden, but it's not worth the risk to use a frame, handlebars, stems, forks, etc. that have seen a lot of use. You don't want them to fail on you while you're rollin' downhill.
)
Sorry, I know this isn't what you wanted to hear. Good luck in the search, though…..I hope you find something soon that's in your budget!

I'm at Amarin Thai Cuisine (174 Castro St, btw Villa & W Evelyn, Mountain View).
Ive always dug the Rockshox Judy with adjustable tension bearings. They can either make the shox super soft or super tight depending on your preference/terrain choice. As far as the back shox Ive never used them.
As far as the frame is concerned I would go with either a Kona or a Specialized…I used to own a trek Y but the frame broke after a nasty spill outside of Utah. I sent the boke back and apparentyl there was a crack in the frame I never noticed…Since it was a Preexisting crack Trek said I caused it and wouldnt reimberse me for it…500$ down the drain. ever Since then Ive gone with Specialized.
pfff …i wish i had such a place around me …
You are way too tall for that bike and it's junk. If you want to jump you are going to have to get a down hill bike that will cost a lot more then you want to spend. At 6' '7" you are going to need a 24 inch frame.
Burton Lux is nice and the Burton Feelgood ICS is my fav. board
