get something like the one i have. its a blue rocky mountain bike that was $400. it’s an amazing ride.
i’d definitly check out trek, giant or cannondale. very reputable makers, and (especially for the treks) great warranties!

I would recommend a hardtail… I know everyone hates on us hardtailers but they force you to gain more skill and finess… thats just my opinion. They’re usually a lot cheaper then full suspension bikes too so you can get a GOOD hardtail for the same price as a half-decent full susser. This is just my opinion though. Ride whatever you feel you should ride lol

get something with good wheels, at least 140mm travel on a good fork and disc brakes.
