It depends on what you want. If you are looking for historic significance, Fort Belvoir is great. You can almost walk to DC and see all the monuments and museums. Want a great overseas experience, pick any base in Europe. A good central location is any base in Georgia.

If you need to travel there, then I have to ask if the airplanes are broken? If there WAS a ferry service.. which I don't know about.. it would cost you at LEAST TWICE as much to take the ferry as to fly it… just look at the S.J. to Santo Domingo ferry… you can FLY it round trip for the price of one way by ferry boat… maybe not as much fun.. but certainly cheaper.
